DAISY COTTAGE - Sleeps 4 (2+2 on Sofa bed)     A ground floor Cottage with ground floor double bedroom.     Facilities include:  a super beamed lounge kitchen diner with flagged floors and lovely Chinese rug.   Comfortable sofas  and bed settee for occasional use.   Colour TV,  DVD.       Internet Access is now available.

In both cottages central heating and electricity are fully inclusive.    All bed linen, tea towels, washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets  are provided.    Cots and high chairs can be requested but please bring  baby linen.   Guests are requested to bring their own towels unless travelling from abroad.  

Phoebe Cottage, Daisy Cottage, Emily's Barn and Swiers Farmhouse all have separate  garden/dining areas with garden furniture.    Awnings  are available on request. 

We always prepare a welcome tray to greet our Guests on arrival  to help you relax after your journey.

Two separate drives lead to on-site parking areas - one for parking  adjacent to Phoebe and Daisy Cottages and  Swiers Farmhouse.     The separate second drive leads to a parking area adjacent to Emily's Barn.

Emily's Barn

This lovely Derbyshire long barn has just been restored and can accommodate  12 + 2 on a double sofa bed.

Sorry NO PETS allowed inside any of the Properties.  We also request that guests to observe our NO SMOKING policy and smoke outside please. 

Daisy and Phoebe  cottages have walking access for people with disabilities but unfortunately not the turning circles required for wheelchairs.     Emily's Barn and Swiers Farmhouse have internal stairs.

Style, character, cottage gardens and delightful location make these properties more than a little bit different.

Swiers Farmhouse

A beautiful Grade II Listed Stone Farmhouse, approximately 300 years old.  The farmhouse is south facing with gardens to the rear leading on to a small field with a gentle hillside beyond where sheep and cattle graze. 

The Ground Floor  consists of the following:-   a beamed  Dining Room with stone fire place, window seat, stone mullions  and large pine planked table seating 12:-   a separate beamed Farmhouse Kitchen with external door to the sunny front terrace, hand painted bespoke kitchen with large electric hobb, oven,  built in larder fridge and dishwasher, all built around a large farmhouse  table.     Groundfloor Bedroom 1 with twin beds,  beamed, stone open fireplace and window seat.  At the rear of the ground floor is a beamed Utility/Boot Room with a further  upright fridge/freezer, washing machine and clothes drying rails.    A rear doorway leads to the separate Farmhouse gardens and field beyond.

The First Floor is reached by a flight of stairs with two family bathrooms, one at each end of the house both with sloping ceilings, bath with shower over, whb, wc and bidet:-     Bedroom 2,  beamed ceiling with king size bed, wide timber floorboards, stone fireplace, window seat, antique furniture:-    First Floor Lounge with stone fireplace, mullion windows, window seat, wide planked timber flooring with chinese silk rug,  three sofas (including a sofabed) and an assortment of armchairs, colour tv, dvd, video along with an assortment of books and films.    There is an adjacent Study/Hallway/Occasional Bedroom with antique bookcase, desk & chair with separate armchair - this space could be used as a single bedroom if required:-   Bedroom 3  beamed ceiling with metal framed double bed, window seat and wide ploanked floor with rugs.

The Second Floor is reached by a central flight of stairs which leads to a large carpeted attic Landing/Bedroom 4 with twin beds, wardrobes and sloping ceilings with oak purlins and velux windows.    A doorway to the right leads into Bedroom 5 which is a triple bedded room with sloping  ceilings, stone mullioned window, planked floor and rugs with an assortment of furniture.     Bedroom 6 is located at the other side of the central landing/bedroom (reached by a screened pathway).   Bedroom 6 has a double bed, sloping ceiling with oak purlins, stone mullioned window and window seat, planked floor and rugs.     

  A second flight of stairs leads to the large bedroom landing with twin beds, a triple bedded room and a further double bedroom.

A little History on Swiers Farm

The Farm became redundant in 1991 when Carsington Water was completed the farmland now lies beneath Carsington Water, although a couple of acres have been kept with the Farm and provide an area for ball games, picnics, or perhaps a quiet moment to absorb the beauty of the hill to the rear of the property.

Our family moved to the Farm in 1992 with our four small children.   We have been slowly restoring ever since.   The barns have been a delight to work with, since they have so much charm and character.   Each year we do a little more, perhaps extending the gardens, perhaps upgrading kitchens,  and we are more than a little pleased with the end results.  We think our Cottages are just lovely!   Beamed ceilings, traditional doors, exposed stone work, flagged floors, simple decor and lovely rugs along with comfortable settees and mellow furniture, lovely pictures and other traditional features combine to create a warm and cosy atmosphere home from home.
